What is backflow testing for?
Backflow prevention is critical to protect our potable water sources from contamination. Due to increases and decreases in water pressure, backflow of the water in our pipes is always happening. A backflow assembly creates a backstop to water backflow from the water’s destination, i.e. Your homes water, back into the supply source, i.e. a city water main. When backflow happens without a backflow assembly doing its proper function, contaminants of all kinds can spread into the city water and cause other people using that source to get sick. Because of that danger, many water departments have strict guidelines about annual backflow assembly testing.
